The Color of Distance

Essay 139 • Apr 26th 2017

My friend Angelina wanted to drive up the coast and style my girlfriend Nikki in some looks and take some photos, and also camp and hit up the midnight spa at Esalen. So we drove up the coast on a sunny Friday, sunroof open, wind blowing.

As we drove I couldn't keep my eyes off of the ocean and on the road. I was looking out at the horizon, noticing how the moisture in the air, layered over hundreds of miles, became a fragile blue, fading up into the sky: the color of distance.
