Peace of Mind

Essay 69 • Oct 3rd 2016

I hold strongly to believing in the power of simplicity; the power to express so much through so little.

This is a selected group of images from an ongoing series that has remained untitled.

All shot in medium format, 120mm, each composition is approached with a sense of personal peace and security.

Finding a peace of mind in what most may simply see as regularity.

Simplifying & expressing.

Striving to create not only a visual, but a mental mood and emotion.

Within these images I see a self representation.

I pay most attention to the little things in life because that is matters the most to me; and by simplifying everyday visuals, I create how I feel through one single frame. Here; a peace of my own mind.

By compositionally showing less than more, I portray more mentality through less visuality.

The last image being a self portrait.

Elizabeth Kabakjian
I’m 23 years old with a Degree in Photography. I prefer to view life through the finder and not much excites me more than film does. I shoot everything from film to digital; carrying at least 4 cameras with me everywhere I go. Rain is my favorite element and the freeing feeling that I get from dancing in the rain is equal to the calming peace I’m in when behind the lens. The camera is a part of me, while the art completes me. I want to fly to the moon.
