Navigating the crest is not for the novice. Riders crush corners on a narrow two-lane highway with no shortage of debris from frequent rocky landslides. One miscalculation could send you over the cliffs or into the face of a mountain wall. Now add a scorching summer heat wave, partially brought on by a nearby raging LA wildfire, followed by a surging summer thunderstorm in the form of a surprise torrential downpour. What you have there is what these girls called a Sunday afternoon.
