Almost a week after LA began to burn, it's been long enough that it feels like we're looking back at something that already happened, assessing the damage, the incomprehensible loss, and beginning recovery. But no matter where you are in the city, you'll see plumes of smoke rising—fires still burn in LA.
In the latter half of the week people came together. Residents of Los Angeles, and many others from across the country and even from Mexico and Canada gathered funds, resources, and hands to help those in need. The response was overwhelming; the difference people can make together is extraordinary.
