Every Thursday night in Portland, the lights come on and the track comes to life. Riders of all ages roll in, from seasoned pros to kids just learning how to kick up dirt. Thursday Night Motocross has been running for decades, making it the longest-running nighttime motocross race in the country. For a lot of families, it’s a weekly ritual. Parents wrench on bikes, kids race or watch from the fence, and everyone ends up covered in dust by the end of the night. It’s loud and fast, but there’s something simple and honest about it — a place where kids grow up, friendships form, and everyone gets a shot at the same stretch of track under the lights. I wanted to document that feeling — the glow through the dust, the hum in the air, and the small moments between races. These photos are about the atmosphere and the people who make it what it is.
