Nestled in the northeast corner of Los Angeles County, surrounded on almost all sides by wilderness, Altadena was once a haven for the wealthy and well-to-do. During the ‘60s and ‘70s that changed. Since then it’s been a quaint, quiet and diverse community of working class families and one of Los Angeles’ most popular hiking areas. Today, at least 10,600 acres across the area burned, entire blocks of businesses and homes rendered to ash. Aid resources were focused elsewhere for most of the day.
