Between The Lines is a nonprofit organization that I’ve been collaborating with as a photographer for two years. We are focused on reducing recidivism through mentorship, educational programming, and sports as a form of therapy. Additionally, we provide a platform for incarcerated individuals to share their unique stories, connecting them with the outside world and offering a deeper understanding of their experiences. Our mission is to build bridges between the incarcerated population and society, creating opportunities for growth and rehabilitation.

Incarcerated individuals are often unseen, not just physically but emotionally and socially. Many haven’t had their portraits taken in years, if ever, and rarely have opportunities to be represented as full human beings—outside of mugshots, surveillance footage, or outdated prison-issued IDs. A photograph allows them to be seen in a new light: as individuals, fathers, thinkers, dreamers, and resilient people navigating one of life’s hardest environments.
