Arizona State Fair All-Indian Rodeo

The Arizona State Fair is one of the most popular and visited in the country, running for over 3 weeks every year. People visit in droves, regardless of the heat. 38c / 100f the day I went. Entertainment and activities range from agricultural awards to musical performances, artistic endeavors and fairground attractions. This year, one of the events in the program was the All-Indian Rodeo; a show of cattle herding and horse breaking open to anyone with proof of tribal certification.

With this iconic image of the American frontier came a humbling marriage with the Native American that I found a charming celebration and acknowledgment of the Indian heritage that worked the land in days of old.
