Skate Life

Essay 219 • Nov 10th 2017

Earlier in 2017 I rediscovered my love of roller skating, the muscle memory still there from learning to skate in my family's basement, and a whole summer of playing street hockey in seventh grade. I had been looking for a new project to shoot, and when I found out about the yearly Icy Hot Skate Jam (with participants coming from all over the Midwest and Atlantic coast) I went and took my camera. It was the perfect moment for my interest in current roller skating culture and photography to meet.
