“Glad To Be Unhappy” is named after the song by the Mamas and the Papas: 

Unrequited love's a bore, yeah,
And I've got it pretty bad.
But for someone you adore,
It's a pleasure to be sad.

This editorial is inspired by the sensation of unrequited or cheated love that often perpetuates crushes, affairs, or any other kind of non-committed relationship. I had just finished watching the Mad Men series and was left with a sort of devastating imprint of what all those secretaries must have felt falling in love with men they shouldn’t, and I wanted to highlight that confusion disappointment in lust and longing, as these are sometimes inescapable parts of falling in love. We shot this editorial around my apartment on a sunny January afternoon, and I think you can sense a bit of the bitter winter in these, too.
