Electric Youth

Essay 316 • Jul 30th 2018

A New York City story celebrating youth and individuality featuring Austin Tyler, a charismatic 17-year-old student of Manhattan’s High School of Fashion Industries. Originally from Liberia, Tyler immigrated to America with his mother in search of opportunity and has dreams of becoming a model or designer some day.

Soundtracked by the beats of Rich the Kid on his phone, we hit the streets of Bushwick on a Friday after class for an impromptu photo shoot and ended the day dancing on a rooftop to “Plug Walk.” It was “fire!” as Tyler would put it – just like his electrifying personality and his ambitious drive that burns within him.
