This is a reunion between photography and myself.

Previously photography was a tool I used to document my experiences with strangers.

This time, I used the medium to connect with the familiar.

In a vibrant world that straddles reality and fantasy, I capture portraits of friends in New York City, navigating notions of identity and nostalgia.
















 

Nicolas Bloise is a photographer and performance artist. His work focuses on the tensions found within ideas of identity and intimacy. Hailing from San Francisco, California, he moved to New York City to pursue and receive his BFA in photography & imaging from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. He is currently based in New York and remains fascinated by neon, color, and the 1980s.
