Coquettish is probably my favorite word in the English language. I was trying to remember the first time I heard or read the word but couldn’t. And, to be honest, I forgot about the word, until I photographed Apryl a few weeks ago in my apartment in Berkeley. It rained for most of the weekend, until our shoot, allowing us the perfect opportunity to play dress up. Apryl moved effortlessly through each look, embodying a different attitude for each. Coquettish is defined as (of a woman) characteristically flirtatious, especially in a teasing, lighthearted manner. She exemplified it; a playful behavior: coy confidence, if there’s such a thing.
